OUR MISSION & VALUES:
mission statement:
To grow family-like environments where urban teens and young adults can thrive by finding belonging, significance and purpose, while experiencing the profound riches of God’s love.
heart values:
Being Loved by God.
Creating opportunities to experience God’s [crazy-good] love through Spirit-filled gatherings and meaningful relationships. It is out of His love that we love God in Return. “We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
Sharing Life.
We see i58kc not as a program or a ministry, but as sharing our very lives with those we love. By creating space for chunks of time together over meals, daily life, adventures, and deep discussions, we make our life together rich and meaningful. 1 Thess. 2:8, “we loved you so much we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our lives as well.”
Being a Member of a Family.
We desire for people to experience belonging through an extended interracial and intergenerational family – a tribe – a place to be both wanted and needed, known and safe, a space to give and receive. In a tribe-like family we are surrounded by committed relationships of love and acceptance where we find identity and purpose.
Going after the one.
Jesus pursues each of us, like a treasure or a pearl – searching and calling until He wins our love, giving everything to have us! We want to be like Him and value each other as precious and worth the extravagant sacrifice and effort to pursue, cherish, and empower. Matthew 18:12 “If a man owns a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?”
Persevering Love
Life is both fulfilling and hard, a journey with many storms and seasons. Staying present over the long haul is a deep value of i58kc. We desire to remain a stable, loving “home” for our youth as they navigate the joys and hardships of life.
